Art Collector steps up in The Bluegrass…
As I said many times, there are loads of talented 3-year old colts in this crop and they will keep showing up. Art Collector certainly made a big statement with a seriously excellent effort in The Bluegrass on Saturday. He came into the race of a Massive Lifetime Best effort that registered as a 77.0 (under 118 lbs). This number was a quantum step forward over any race he had ever run before. An almost certain “bounce” candidate, which I rated an automatic 2.0 points down plus a .2 deduction for taking on more weight! He got a 74.8 rating on my Power Page, which still had him as a contender, but probably correctly priced at 10/1, but the people didn’t care about facts or figs, they bet him down to 2/1 and he went on to dispatch some very nice colts and one tenacious and tough filly. Swiss Skydiver was fantastic and resolute to the wire, but no match for Art Collector. Another first rate colt in a season full of first rate colts!
