Resulting yesterday’s play…Stormy Ambition ran 2nd at a decent price, those of you who made reverse exactas with LONGS (random long priced horses), should be happy today…
(reprint from twoweek ago)…Apparantly their has been controversy over Zenyatta on the Internet. I received many e-mails…so here is my take on Zenyatta…She’s as good as good ever has gotten…read on
On Zenyatta : I have now become so enamored with Zenyatta, I consider her to be one of my 5 all time greatest racehorses. Since I started playing horses in 1976 and was only a casual observer before 1976, I simply won’t go back before that time, with one obvious exception. Also, I am only commenting on horses that have raced here in the USA. So before 1976 I am including Secretariat as one of my 5 greatest horses, I did see him run many times, as did most people who were into sports and in their 20’s during the 1970, so I fee very comfortable including him. So really this is a discussion of the 5 greatest horses AFTER SECRETARIAT. Furthermore, I make almost no distinction between the top 5, they all had their various strengths. In fact they were all really really strong and they all have 1 similiarity, they gave weight away to the competition and beat them doing their thing. Seattle Slew on the front and Zenyatta coming from behind. So here are the top 5 in my book in chronological order: SECRETARIAT, FOREGO, SEATTLE SLEW, AFFIRMED AND ZENYATTA.
Today’s Free Play….Hollywood’s Race $8…The final race is always interesting to me, people often make a big mistake in changing their betting strategy based upon their success or failure during the events of the card. Sometime they have little left in the kicker so they are forced to make an overly aggressive play that just doesnt’ work right and compounds the problem. I like to use the last race of the day/night to be my barometer for each betting affair throughout the card. I don’t want to throw away money on plays that aren’t at least as good (in my judgment) as the final play of the night. On tonights card the final race offers a wonderful potential proposition wager. For our smaller bankrolls, I would recommend an exacta box of my top 3 rated horses, Make It Mine, Misty Miss Joanna & Joint Adventure. I would modify the amounts so that the ultimate payout would be pretty equal and then add and extra coupl of bucks on the number I like best…For those of you with bigger bankrolls, I would box those 3 horses in either trifectas, superfecta with the ALL for openers and then add in extras with the longs…Work out the combinations and you will see their are some great payoff in this method. The base bet for $1.00 trifecta should ONLY $192.00 ($24.00 x 8) and the Superfecta would be $192.00 ($24.00 x 8). Note that the price for total coverage is the same, but the trifecta will cash much more often the super, because you will only need 2 of the 3 to hit the board for the trifecta, while the superfecta will demand that all 3 of our primary horses hit the board…
