Congrats to the connections of Journalism and Rodriguez, but especially to Journalism! Seldom do we see a horse get stopped that badly and re-rally to win. Usually, when they encounter that type of trouble when running at such a high rate of speed, they simply have given too much energy up, to overcome the ground loss they suffer. Journalism is all class and if he is sound coming out of the race, we have the makings of the clear Kentucky Derby favorite.

Rodriguez, ran a very good race, but had all the fractions favor him, after running a sharp first quarter. He had his main competitor on his shoulder throughout, but was holding 2 advantages, the rail and the fractions he preferred in his pocket. His finish was excellent.

I feel, as a handicapper, that Journalism is head and shoulders above the rest of the of the 3 year olds at this point, but I am concerned that he might be TOPPISH after this harsh and difficult run in the Santa Anita Derby.
