There are just so many good things that occurred on the track at Aqueduct and BF-Hollywood on Saturday. First my handicapping of Singlet and Jaycito proved to be on point, with both reporting home solid winners. Singlet paid only 2/1 so it might have been too tight a price, but Jaycito was solid right up to the end, we were all betting at 7/2 or 3/1 and dropped to 5/2 after the betting was done. So this price should have been harvested. Reenesgotzip won by an inch in a life and death stretch duel and Game ON Dude was all out to prevail over NONIOS (,my STAR horse) outgaming him. The Dude paid only $2.60 for $2.00 wagered, so betting against him felt very good, even in losing and the same with Reneesgotzip who won by a slimmer margin. So if you bet Groupie Doll, Reneesgotzip and Game On Dude you would have spent $6.00 and won back only $5.20, losing big in reality, but cashing twice. Horse racing iv very cruel at the odds on prices…
Now lets contrast the bove UNDERLAYS with a good value plays
Under the heading of betting TOP-RATED STAR horses at 9/2 or higher (a general rule of thumb).
In the first at BF – Hollywood my TOP RATED HORSE (did I say that loud enough) — Sonofatoayana went off at 58/1. Now since I don’t include in my PPN’s the jockey or the trainer, it’s fair that the public would not accept this horse , even with my top rating as a 5/2 favorite or even a 5/1 long-shot (remember there were only 7 horses in the race). You might demand more, but at what point do you say, here a very decent handicapper sees something positive in the relative ability of this horse when compared to the other horses in the race and I will accept and support this horse chance to win. At 10/1, or at 20/ or 25/1 or even 30/1…. Which leads me to my next statement, did YOU decide to bet him at 35/1 or 40/1, how about 50/1… At what point was the value so much greater than this horse probability to win? For ME the right price was about 7/2…but that’s just me… IF you thought that 10/1 was a square price and the horse was at 30/1 you should have been in…
