While we have two interesting cards at Aqueduct and Santa Anita, we will all be looking to Oaklawn Park for the The Rebel Stakes – G2. There are 4 horses of great interest to me, Delhomme, Super Ninety Nine, Oxbow and Treasury Bill and since I have Delhomme rated at the top of my KD Contender List – I will be watching very carefully. Arkansas has become a great focal point for the road to the KD, Smarty Jones might have shown that it can be a smart choice. Bob Baffert made great use of Oaklawn in preparing Bodemeister last year, so I take Super Ninety Nine very seriously, even though he hasn’t been listed in my top 8, that might change after tomorrow. I really have no knocks on Super 99 and he has run a couple of terrific races… Delhomme has been at the top of my list since his great race in the Remsen. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had any races since and that certainly makes me uneasy. Furthermore, he has been at the top of my list, something he earned on the track as a two year old, but his position at the top of my list is very tenuous at best, I just didn’t feel like demoting him until we actually saw him race and could “guess” on his progress. So we will definately learn something as this is probably the best edition of the Rebel ever! I expect Super 99 to run the big race and Delhomme to make a nice run in the stretch but come up a little short and would like to see Super 99 post a 77.5 and Delhomme to be in the 76.0 range… As for Treasury Bill and Oxbow, we will learn more about them as well… It should be great!
