When racing around 2 turns, horses posted in the outside 2 or 3 post positions are surely having to do more work. It’s really simple because they almost always get over-used to get some position as near as possible to the inside… It’s part a loss of ground, but it’s often more a function of getting used to fast too early… This is a simple handicapping principle to follow, never bet a short priced horse from the outside 2 post positions — unless the are certain to be loose speed…
