California Chrome certainly stamped his ticket to be on the Triple Crown Trail, in fact he might have stamped the ticket all the way to the starting gate in Kentucky on the first Saturday in May!  He was sensational for certain– running Midnight Hawk off his feet.  As I said on Race Day Las Vegas, so far Midnight Hawk had run well in faster races, but that Cal Chrome had the profile of  a horse who could run a “better than expected race” and for that reason was assigned a STAR!

CC ran like a STar and now we can start to consider how bright that STAR will shine…  One more point on him, he doesn’t need the lead – at least so far  and he has done plenty of racing, just like the good youngs of yester-year…
