Happy New Year !!!
Now for a little business, in the first 3 days of the New Feature – “V” for Value Add in horse… 1) remember these are all M/L of 20/1 or higher (lower M/L in smaller fields)… The basic idea is for these horses to have a chance to finish 4th, 3rd, or 2nd — but not so much 1st. However, and I am really surprised this has occurred – a “V” horse that is in the top 3 or 4 of the rankings, has a terrific chance to win. We had Doc Almon at 39/1 — rated 2nd on the Power Page — actually run a beautiful 2nd and pay $25.40 to PLACE. Then on Sunday at Santa Anita — Harlington’s Rose had been assigned a “V” and was also rated 3rd on the Power Page – went off at 18/1 and won – paying $37.60 for a $2.00 win wager! Naturally, any horse that is 15/1 or better and in the Top 3 has to be considered a possible KEY horse and a terrific win/place wager on ODDS alone… So that’s pretty much what happened with Harlington’s Rose.
Here are the stats on the “V” horses for the fist 3 day’s — Total “V” horses = 9; 4 ran 2nd; 2 ran 4th ; and 1 won at $37.60. _ I would have to say , ” IMPRESSIVE.”
So while — for the most part – the “v” should be assigned to horses down the Power Page rankings, because these horses have a M\L: of 20/1. IF they are higher up the ranking, then their chances of winning are better… So for the most part, these are “Value Add-In horses, they can be KEY horses as well…
