There are some fabulous races at both Belmont and Santa Anita.  The 9th at Belmont — The Pennine Ridge – feature Oscar Performance, Good Samaritan and Ticonderoga, plus the addition of Bowie’s Hero as the Top Shelf , 3 year old,  Turf runners square off !  We might see them battle all year long and once again finish it off in the Breeders Cup.  As most of you will remember, Oscar Performance won the Breeders Cup Juvy Turf in one of truly great efforts – withstanding a vicious speed duel, to win well in a true Tour D’ Force.  But since, he has not come back to form.  This is not all that surprising when we consider how difficult his journey was –  as it was a major TOP.

Ticonderoga and Good Samaritan were chasing and making up ground in the stretch in the very same race.  Both have come back as bigger and faster than they were in the BC Juvy Turf when they were outdone by Oscar Performance.  And the West Coast fans now how good Bowie’s Hero was in his return, he had an Arrogate type of performance, not quite as dramatic and certainly facing lesser, but his stretch run was outstanding.  His trainer steps on to the prime time stage here, and he is a talented trainer… So this should be a great race and a race we all need to pay some attention to….
