A note on why I prepared the Turf races for the Turf, in spite of the good head’s up that it rated to rain New York overnight.   Firstly, some of Saturday’s Turf races should go on the turf, even if it’s soft – especially the Hill Prince.   When I surveyed the turf horses, they were almost all very poor on the main track anyway.  They pretty much all appearred to be weak compared to the MTO horse, so there was little reason to even handicap them for the main track.   In the end, I have always been amazed at how unpredictable they can be in taking races off the turf, so until they have officially removed races from the turf the night before OR I have definitive rainfall information AT THE TRACK – it’s been a good policy to do it this way…   Good Luck
