The Withers at Aqueduct and the San Paqual at Santa Anita…
The racing season started to swing into action last week with the Pegasus, but now it leaps forward today with the Withers at Aqueduct and the San Pasqual at Santa Anita. The Withers’ features young hopefuls for the Kentucky Derby, while in previous years, it’s been the home of the second stringers. But after last year, with Justify rewriting “the way to the Triple Crown”, it’ might be best to look at this years event with a different eye. One thing for certain, is Lucky Lee comes into this edition after an eye-popping run at PARX. And there are several very lightly raced newly turned 3-year olds with limited form. What do you think, does that sound like the “new way”?
But my favorite race of the day will be the San Pasqual, even though I will not be able to make a play, because the horse I am most interested in is McKinzie and he’s got a 4/5 M/L hanging on him. I simply do not play at 4/5, but I will surely be watching, because I believe he is the best on the planet, and I love his action! Hopefully, Bob Baffert, last years (the last 30 years) of greatness had been very pedestrian this season, actually the past 6 months. So whatever is going on at BB’s barn, hopefully, this horse will show well and handle the WET conditions….
There are just so many great plays tomorrow… take my advise and get all three JJPPs for Saturday – seriously!
Santa Anita Condition on Saturday
Santa Anita should be deluged starting Friday night and into and through Saturday… I have made the JJPPs for a WET condition… Keep you eye on the horses with the “P” – they might be able to suddenly improve, just from touching their hooves on a WET surface…
