BC day starts to set…
AT posting time, the 2-Day BC event is fading into memory. Only the Classic remains to be run. We have seen so many fantastic efforts. Some of the images for me include the incredible early speed of Shancelot and the magnificent late run of Mitole, showing all his class and elegance.
I thought the Main Track played so very fairly, with horses making both early runs and late runs to the winner’s circle, even though almost every announcer talked up an early SPEED BIAS on the main track, without taking any not of the many closing trips throughout the day – on the Main Track.
The Turf course was a bit different. IF a horse wasn’t hugging the rain on in the 1 or 2 path and near the lead, it was simply not going to happen until very late in the day. The turf course started to play a little more fairly after the 7th race. We were withness to an amazing run by UMI and another tour de force from Bricks and Mortar…
But ultimately the skill of two California based people, really stood out to me. The training job by Papa Mandella with United at 50/1 in the BC Turf event was truly amazing… and the ride by Prat was astounding. PRAT just won the BC as the best of these 2-days… with longshot after longshot… challenging, competing and ultimately winning and placing at astronomical odds…
