Improbable explodes, leaving Maximum Security in his wake…
Improbable moved effortless and brilliantly through the far turn, gobbling up the 10 length (my guess) from his lagging behind the front runners. The pace was honest, so it’s totally fair that average horses would collapse as they hit the top of the stretch. But Max Security struggled – in my opinion – after going under a furious ride to put the early speed away, and then only had enough left to save 2nd. This was not like the Santa Anita Derby – when we say Authentic put away the speed horses but then get caught in deep stretch by the powerful close of Honor A.P. Then seen Authentic reverse that in the Kentucky Derby.
No it was quite different today, Maximum Security races as if he was just another horse in the race as Improbable breezed on by with more than1/4 of a mile to the finish line… One was Brilliant and the other a little more “pedestrian”.
