Wet tracks at Aqueduct and Santa Anita for Friday…
Friday’s JJPPs for Aqueduct and Santa Anita are anticipating Wet Main Track and in the case of Santa Anita, both Turf races have been handicapped for the Main Track. They were the recipients of copious amounts of rain and I am pretty certain the Turf course will need a day or two to firm up…
Aqueduct started to get Precip on Thursday night, in the form of Snow and some rain, on Friday with the temps getting up toward 40 degrees, we can only see a WET surface for the Aqueduct Main Track. Naturally, for both we have to pay attention to the horses who would possibly improve “p and P” on the WET track and to those that already have proven to prefer the WET going ” m and M”.
On that subject, there is a separate notation for Good Surface. The Good surface is a Wet track that has dried out enough to be harrowed or cut open, thereby allowing the track to dry even faster, exposing the lower cushion to the air. For whatever reason, horses that love this condition, usually do not like Wet or Muddy tracks and are not good bets on Sealed tracks either — IN MY OPINION!
Therefore, horses with a P or M designation are not indicating a forward move on a true GOOD Track. This is something I plan to make an upgrade for your benefit … but it’s a little while down the line.
Gulfstream Park, on the other hand, will surely be FAST and Firm.
