What a terrific start to the BF-Hollywood meeting, as far as I am concerned, this is always one terrific meeting. There were 4 STAR horses on the smallish 8 race card, 2 won, 2 placed from the 4 STAR horses! Here they are, VEE won the 2nd race at $9.80 and longshot STAR horse Sheskey placed in a dead-heat. The exacta (inspite of the DH) payed $90.60 for a $2.00 wager… Then in the 7th race, the STAR horse was Maser Chef and he cooked thought the stretch returning $6.60. Then in the 9th race Lady Now went off a fabulous 14/1 , ran a game 2nd, outrun by one of the first-time-starters and paid a lovely $14.40 in the place hole…
Also, it might be noted, that my opening play on RaceDayLasVegas was in the first, I was betting on Cupid’s Bling- against the favorite – Attack The Jack – with exotic turns to REal Dream and Natalie Academy. Real Dream went off 24/1 – outgaming Cupid’s Bling… We always set these plays up – reversing out play, especially with out longer priced horses. This certainly qualified and the exacta that followed was $151.00 for $2.00… This was a great start – so follow along with me through this very appealing meet…
My other play on Race Day was The Whole Deal who was morning line at 9/2 but went off at only 9/5, while this was a winning number, I can’t help but feel the price was too low and the play was a good pass. It’s nice to see the handicapping was right, but the play couldn’t be made at such a short price… The exotics did fall apart, with our 2nd best number — Trice UP – coming in a tiring 3rd after being 2nd all the way around the track. A major long outgamed Trice up to the wire for 2nd. Almost, but as I said, the price was a bit too low to be following this play…
