Kentucky Oaks headlines today… but we primarily play Saratoga and Del Mar…
It’s hard to not pay attention to the 3-year old fillies, especially when we have one that might be remembered 100 years from now… maybe. Gamine is about the fastest 3-year old filly I have seen in a very long time. Unlike the real immortals of the last 50 years, Personal Ensign, Zenyatta & Rachel Alexandra – all fillies that could run at least an 81.0 on my Speed Figs at 1 1/8 or longer… Gamine has an abundance of early speed, so by style and comparison, she will be measured against the great Ruffian!
So far we have seen her go to the front and improve her position, without really being asked or being tested. It takes a certain amount of competition for a filly or a colt to really show off how fully fast they actually are. So far, we haven’t seen anyone able to provide that competition!
Today she meets Swiss Skydiver and I doubt we will see much pressure on Gamine, and it’s my guess we will see her massive stride lengthen and power away from the chasers…
That’s my take on the Kentucky Oaks, Pandemic Edition of 2020
