Okay, The Belmont Championship Fall meet begins… Now we have two new East and West Coast tracks, both with different feels. But both represent unique opportunities. As we saw at Los Al today, it’s not a wrote type of deal, there were interesting horses that won or filled out the exotics. The JJPPs featured two “V” horses, that went off at terrific odds, with one finishing 2nd and another at 30/1 finishing 3rd… and there were only 2 of them…
Also, the track appeared to be honest and the same as I expected. I heard a number of people claiming it was a “speed favoring oval” after 3 races… simply because the winner was on the lead in the first 3 races… but really these were the main figure horses and the competition was always in a bad position with much to overcome… What did appear to be a bias in my opinion, was the inside was slower and there was a really good line out in the center of the track… so for opening day at Los Al, let’s say “negative rail”, speed off the rail was good and outside closers were able!
Race Day Plays were 0 for 2 with the first play going down two steps out of the gate, when a horse came over on him and forced him to steady,, then fell back and never contended… could have been bad or could have been injured by the bump… we will never know… the play in the 5th ran fine but just got caught at the wire… solid for 2nd…
I am starting to get my energy back, so maybe by tomorrow I will have thngs back to normal and the site properly updated….
