About
JERRY JACOVITZ has always been a racing enthusiast. Although his style and technique had not yet evolved, Jerry was handicapping from a point of view based on form, as far back as the mid-1970’s.
In the early 1980’s, Jerry was beginning to develop an opinion–but still looking for a reliable way to isolate the “randomness” of the game. He focused his understanding on how the early segments of the race impacted on a horse’s performance. He was certain that aspect should be used in determining wagering advantages.
In 1988, Jacovitz began using his computer skills to develop the systems analysis to create the software for a past performance product–one that would analyze each leg of the race, for every horse that was entered into the database.
In 1992 the program was finally ready to be put through its paces. Jerry teamed up with two highly successful “professional sheet players.” As they used the product, Jerry fine-tuned the numbers and refined the process. Numerous studies were done to analyze the data and countless hours of discussion ensued, all of which helped Jerry formulate his theories. The end-product was highly sophisticated, approximately 20 pages, packed with information and sold on an exclusive basis.
Jerry’s goal was to take this product and simplify the format, making it user-friendly for players of all skill levels and the obvious test market was the Las Vegas Race Books. On December 26, 1997 Jerry J’s Performance Pages debuted at Sunset Station Hotel Casino. A series of handicapping seminars featuring the Performance Pages took place–resulting in many players seeking Jerry out for one-on-one discussions on his ideas and theories.
While players were picking Jerry’s brain, they were clearly identifying what they were looking for in terms of handicapping information. The POWER PAGE literally emerged out of the Performance Pages—a one-page graded ranking of each horse for projected power, early speed and form.
The popularity of the POWER PAGE has steadily grown. To date, it is available in over 18 major race books in Las Vegas and select locations around the country. It’s used by thousands of racing enthusiasts of all skill levels.
Jerry J has been a regular on Ralph Siraco’s Race Day Las Vegas radio show which is broadcast every weekday from 9:00 to 10:00am and on weekends from 8:00 to 9:00am on KSHP 1400 AM . In addition to being a local show for Las Vegans, it is also carried on the INTERNET at www.warpradio.com.
