Sunday’s racing at Aqueduct was heavily influenced by the prevailing Speed Bias, which I would declare as STRONG SPEED BIAS… Keep that in your kicker…
As for selections on Race Day Las Vegas, I had a very strong like on Proud Vixen at Santa Anita and I just liked Irish Whisper at Aqueduct. The actual result was that the horse I loved ran out and the horse I liked WON at an overlay price of 7/2. This begs the question of what kind of handicapper are you, a “selection driven or a value driven” handicapper? Or somewhere in the middle. When I started handicapping I was totally “selection driven”, but later on as I became a professional handicapper, I learned to become a nice hybrid of the two types. For that reason, I was able to bet them evenly as they were both the same price in similarly weighted races of 6 racers… In the old days I would have bet more on my selection-driven-selection and less on my more value-driven-selection – but not now. Now, once I have determined that my selection is an overlay, I can bet them accordingly…
