Las Vegas – STRONG!!!
Monday looks like wet weather in New York. The Classic JJPP has been handicapped for the Main Track for all races, while the PLUS has been handicapped for both…
Race Day Plays from This Week…
Wednesday’s plays at Belmont were both interesting and winning. First we played Fashion Week, a filly that has been launching from way back, but today, she showed sharpness and attended the pace throughout, just tiring late. She was off at 9/1 and finished 3rd, just beaten for 2nd in the final two strides. So maybe, we are on her a race too soon. In her next, her conditioning level should be very good, but it’s likely her price will be much lower… we will see.
Then we followed with Hoponthebusguss in the 4th. Hop had run today, a produced a win paying a fair $10.60. This was pretty straight forward and it appeared to be hard fought. We backed Hop earlier this year and he was beaten a slim nostril… so today we got some of our $$$ back…
Thursday’s plays saw Delta Outlaw show sharp early speed to make the running on the front, but could not continue when the real running was needed. The Santa Anita play, Del Mar Ann was scratched…it’s worth noting that the next horse that was both Top rated and the Top Conteder was Wonderful Lie… so I feel we should have been able to make the right play… but you had to have either the JJPP or PLUS in your hands…
Friday’s plays were both very solid, with a Win in New York, just a sliver under 2/1, with Lucky Long in the 8th. Then a terrific run – as expected – with my play at Santa Anita, Dreamy Gal in the 7th. Unfortunately, we were out-gamed by a horse (Powder) that didn’t look all that good to me. We definitely had action at 3/1. Both ran very-very-very well, but one came away with the $$$.
Saturday’s plays saw two nice efforts, with Diversify winning the Jockey Gold Cup for us and ringing up a winning mutual of $9.80 — in an expected wire to wire effort. Then at Santa Anita, my play was on Rocky Bar – a 1 number horse – and after breaking middling, the move was steady and the finish was solid, but the best he could do was manage 3rd. It was a nice effort, but it still remains difficult to pick up the early speed at Santa Anita, especially if you are widest of all…
Sunday’s plays were both very good, but they both ran 2nd, with Wingman getting bet down to 5/2 and running very well, but 2nd best. Then in Santa Anita, our play in the 1st – Mizzen Glory off at 13/1 – ran a solid 2nd, but was no match for the winner – who completely fooled me. Still, the plays are running and we will take down our fair share… By the way, Mizzen Glory was declared as a win/place play… and in New York, the horse that beat us, was my 2nd best horse and part of my spread.
