Sometimes, we think that the top rated horse should be the favorite and feel as if that horse is flawed if it has a premium on the front board.  ON Monday’s Saratoga card, in the 7th race, the Top Rated horse was Ecstatic Miss and anyone who looked at the Power Page had to think hard and long about not betting this winner who ultimately paid a whopping $38.60.   Overlay always have some kind of “B.O.” aboput them and it’s usually just in in the mind of the handicapper — probably due to some bias they have developed over the years.  Isn’t it enough to say, here is a horse with a chance and this horse is now at 15/1 …  Isn’t that good enough and isn’t the Power Page really GREAT!

I think we had some great 2 year old races at Saratoga- with a really exciting run along the wood from I Spent It.  I Spent It ran really well in the last 1/8th of a mile and might be one to watch —  distance might be okay for him…  Cavorting ran really nicely as did Angela Renee and Wonder Gal.  I thought all three were well extended at the end — so these NEW YORK Breds might be factors stepping inot Open Filly competition….
