Imperial Hint, Shancelot and Doug O’Neill…Simply Sensational!!!

This past weekend presented two of the most amazing exhibitions of raw speed in equine history, when Imperial Hint cruised to victory setting a new track record for 6 furlong of 107 4/5.  And that record was promptly broken the next day, when the lightly race cold, Shancelot ran 6 1/2 furlong, first passing the internal 6 furlong time in 107 4/5 and then breaking the 6 1/2 furlong record of 1:14.   They were both just such super performances… that I have one phrase that was last use to describe Seattle Slew’s amazing 57.0 breezing workout back in 1978 prior to his electic performance in the Marlboro Cup… Simply Sensational! And then the humans decided to take some of the glory back from the equine athlete, when Doug O’Neill won 5 races on Del Mars paltry 7 race card!  Let me repeat, he won 5 of the 7 races carded!  Have you ever seen something like that in your life!

By the way, one of his 5 winners, was a STAR horse on the JJPP and it went off at 12/1, so he was not lining up chalk!  And in the finale, my TOP CONTENDER and TOP RATED horse was his Ocean Fury… just thought I would mention a 12/1 STAR horse – why not.  That’s pretty good too…

As for Imperial Hint, we know he is going to the BC Sprint and he will be the favorite, interestingly he paid $13.60 which is an astounding price for this horse.  As for Shancelot, I am not sure… I wonder if he will try the Travers.  If he does try the Travers, I will be betting on him.  I figure he will be a million miles in front with a quarter of a mile to go… I’ll be glad to take my chances from there…  but we will have to wait and see…

Wednesday’s (7-31-2019) Power Page and PLUS for Saratoga and Del Mar are ready for download…

Back open for business…

The card at Saratoga has 10 races and Del Mar has their typical 7 race card going for Wednesday.  The sudden rain at Saratoga on Saturday, definitely was a bit of a monkey wrench or so we might consider.  Prior to that sudden downpour that left the track exposed to heavy rains, because the track super couldn’t get the tractors out to “SEAL” the surface.  Prior to that, the main track was playing as perfectly as I have ever seen it play.  It was totally honest, giving a slight advantage to off the pace style.  At one time I would have classified the track as “slight closer favoring”.  I am curious if this will suddenly change now that it’s a few days in the rear view mirror and things have had a chance to settle…  So keep your eye open for horses moving good or bad on the rail and evaluate front speed and how it does very closely…  We can only tell as it unfolds…

One the West Coast, at Del Mar, the track has been decidedly Speed Favoring and pretty harsh on inside post positions, especially if they show early speed!  That’s pretty interesting and it’s been that way to one degree or another through the entire meet.  Nothing like consistency to get a big smile out of me.

I am definitely loving the sprint races at Del Mar and focusing much of my $$$$ on those races this week… especially if I see this Bias continuing…
