Great racing across the board…

Aqueduct is looking up on Thursday, with some very interesting horses that make for some interesting races to handicap.  As is always true, this time of year, Gulfstream has a well populated fields presenting  challenging handicapping, which usually leads to some good payoffs.  That’s what we like!  And when the sun shines on the West Coast, we have Santa Anita, which again has some really good races to play.  In fact, I have TWO – Featured Plays – at Santa Anita for Thursday’s card…

Chance of rain at Gulfstream Park…

Wednesday’s card at Gulfstream Park might be turned upside down if the rain that is forecast materializes.  Keep in mind, the JJPP’s are made for a FAST and Good track, so should the rains arrive at Hallandale Florida, you will have to look to our Potential Improvers on the WET – the “p and P” horses.  And you will have to INCREASE the PPN for the “m & M” horses…

This is of particular importance when evaluating the Turf races.  The reason is, that TURF horses typically do not like WET tracks, plain truth is, that most Turf horses have bigger and  flatter hooves – so they are displacing more water and wet sand when they run than horses with smaller hooves.  I’ll bet you never head that before… so a slow horse with a  P by the rating… and a big price on the front board, can be a beautiful bet in the SLOPPY going, especially in a race that comes OFF THE TURF.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…  let’s first confirm the actual conditions at post time…
