Honor Code makes his first appearance in several months, since he was taken off the Triple Crown trail after a dull race at Gulfstream Park om March 12th beaten 10 lengths by the outstanding miler, Social Inclusion. Going back to Saratoga, I Honor Code was really impressive in winning his MSW on the slop at 7 furlongs. He broke poorly — fell way back and then rallied like Silky Sullivan to win going away. After that he was in some really close finishes going a Mile in the Champagne and 1 1/8 mile in the Remsen.
I have always felt, especially with deep closer types, like Honor Code, that once they have been stretched out to longer 2 turn distances, they are really vulnerable going distances less than 7 furlongs… At the Jerry J’s Power Page, we don’t actually do too much public handicapping, because this service is about primarily providing INFORMATION first and handicapping opinions thereafter. But since I first started in horse racing , I have always bet on a sharp sprinter against the classy Triple Crown horse who is returning in a sprint… I cashed on Bold Somethingorother to beat Darby Creek Road and a year later I bet Radar Ahead to beat one of the greatest horses who ever graced the racetrack – Affirmed. So I wouldn’t knock anyone who wanted to bet against Honor Code – who certainly is no Darby Creek Road and surely not even 1 lef of the great Affrimed…
