Authentic heads up the Santa Anita Derby…
With Belmont offering one of the most competitive and interesting race cards I have seen for quite some period of time, Santa Anita with Authentic stepping on the track, becomes the center of attention on Saturday.
Authentic draws the outside post position which makes him nearly unbeatable, if he was ever beatable – at all.
So far he has out galloped his opponents while veering here and there, have a good ole time in absolute “Race Horse Time”. His last race, in the san Felipe was a walk in the park and did not show the kind of talent he actually has, as he did in his 2nd race, which was much faster. And it was in the 2nd race that he was veering through his stretch run. Maybe it was the noise in the stands, or maybe he was going so fast he lost his balance for a moment… whatever… To date, this colt is the fastest colt in the world by a fair amount. He has some challengers that are coming on… but right now – according to me – he is the one!
With the outside PP, he will just gallop them off the track.
No Santa Anita Derby Seminar
I have decided not to do a Santa Anita Derby, it’s simply too small a field and the competitive aspect of this race are less than I would like. It’s just full of betting traps as Authentic should win by as far as he wants, but is under no urgency to win at all… It’s just not a race I would like to focus our attention upon… I hope everyone will understand…
