Ramon Dominguez took a nasty spill in the 7th at Aqueduct. I know that some have been talking about the track and trying a synthetic surface. But really, considering they have not been very successful in my opinion and should be removed in almost all cases — just my opinion — but the last place that needs this is the Aqueduct Inner Dirt Track. From what I can see, it’s about the safest surface, especially for the horses. The synthetics have caused all sorts of form problems for horses who can’t handle the “stickiness” of these surfaces and when horse or rider hit them, unlike the natural dirt track, they don’t slide and so absorb much more shock on impact from what I can see. Anyway, this fall for Ramon Dominguez had nothing to do with the surface, but seemed to happen because of tight riding. I can’t be certain, but it looked like his horse clipped heels. That being said, he did take a nasty fall and might have gotten hit by a following horse, but I do not believe he was hit with a hoof, but rather by the leg of the horse. That was my best guess… I hope he is okay…
Friday’s Exit Plays ran 2nd at Santa Anita and 4th at Aqueduct… right now we have 5 total exit plays and 2 placings, all at very decent prices…
