The San Felipe, The Kilroe Mile, The San Carlos and The Santa Anita Handicap are headlining out at Santa Anita.
While back East at The Big A they are sporting the Tom Fool and The Gotham mile.
Obviously, the headline action will be at Santa Anita. First we are going to see, what I believe is indisputably the best horse in world in Shared Belief. I don’t like to make predictions in this space, but to me – this is a walkover. Although stranger things have happened in racing, I don’t expect any other horses to be near him at the end. I believe the wager is – how many lengths does he win by! And I am not worried about some cheap speed type stealing this race, that can happen when they are more evenly matched, but if Shared Belief is feeling — OKAY — he will run over all the horses and against any bias – then win off by himself .
As for Dortmund – he will encounter Bolo for one. Bolo has raced even faster than Dortmund, but that was on the Turf. I have rated Dortmund a 1/2 point higher, but in truth that’s because I downgraded Bolo for not ever racing on Dirt. So I ask, “what if Bolo likes the Dirt better?” These are 11 fabulous races at Santa Anita – and if you have a need for Speed – you will be rewarded and satisfied!
