Bias comments for Thursday 5-25-2018

The Turf SPEED BIAS at Belmont, remained in tact today, although several horses ran over the bias anyway.

At Santa Anita, continues to demand early effort – a distinct SPEED BIAS remains in effect

 

“Race Day Las Vegas” Plays

Thursday

Belmont…Atchata in Race #2… off a beat slow and a bit awkward, took about a furlong to settle in, raced wide throughout, while totally green…  beat by a substantial margin.

Santa Anita… Clear The Mine… Race #7… SCRATCHED

Friday’s

At Belmont… Belleville Spring in the 8th off at 11/1, broke poorly and took 2 jumps to get going, then seemed to resent racing in behind horses, moved a little off the turn, but was not able to persist while holding the show.  Also, this horse was a bit fractious prior to the races, and might have left some of his race in the walk-ring…

AT Santa Anita… Downside UP in the 9th off at 5/2 was simply dull as used dishwater… bad selection.
