The Woodward and the Awesome Again, showed were some of the real talent in horse racing is. We have long expected Art Collector to be a major horse, who after getting off to a great start, hit some hard times, just as he was getting ready to shine. But time, patience and the deft hand of Billy Mott have brought this colt back with raging success. Art Collector has plenty of early lick, a high cruising speed and the ability to carry weight… the necessary ingredients to be at the top of the heap.
Medina Spirit is just growing up into a fabulous handicap horse. With only 122 pounds impost to carry, he simply decimated a field of older horses and ran away from them as if they were common platers. The only WEST coast colt to compare to him, is Life Is Good, who now resides on the East Coast. No doubt they will get to face off again.
So what does this say for Knicks Go who also trounced a field at Churchill Downs on Saturday? It says, there will be no easy leads for anyone when they are called to the gate in the Breeders’ Cup, in early November.
My earliest prognostication is….EXCITEMENT!
