At Aqueduct on Sunday…
we should be expecting the Turf races to be run on the Turf and the Main Track should be FAST. Of course, as for running turf races on the turf, we will have to wait and see. NYRA is very protective of their duel Turf courses and safety conditions. So we will have to wait to see their decision.
At Del Mar on Saturday…
We saw a continuation of the EARLY SPEED BIAS. And we also saw a resumption of a SLOWISH RAIL path. If I am correct in that analysis, then we must make special note of the run by MUCHO GUSTO, who “scraped the paint” all the way and never allowed a horse to go by. And the challenges came from some good looking colts. I thought Savagery was particularly “live” and was getting a very good trip, stationed right on the flank of Mucho Gusto. I was expecting him to wrest control as they turned for home, but Mucho would have none of that… and drew clear in a superb effort!
And with that said, we also need to take note of Baffert’s very good looking 2-year old colt, Coliseum who was bet like the good thing, he turned out to be. Also, taking a lot of “rail” throughout his trip. Again, the rail seemed slow except for the Baffert horses… heck they can run through a bias and a brick wall…
