Vekoma & Uncle Chuck… impress!!!
First Vekoma won this years edition of the Metropolitan Mile and whow! He made all the running on the front, then turned home under pressure and appearred to “rebroke” at the 1/8th pole to draw away. Once again, he showed that “paddling” stroke, but appearred to settle in stride in the final segment of the race, with a much more fluid stride. This colt is continuing to develop.
While at Los Alamitos in a undersized 4 horse event, the LOS ALAMITOS DERBY was terrific. Uncle Chuck sat 3rd and Thousand Words was 4th down the backstretch, they took over the running with Thousand Words running right up to Uncle Chuck, when he just strided away as if he was the experienced horse and TW had only raced once. Uncle Chuck was fantastic through the final segments of this race… and as a comparison with Cezanne… he is probably months ahead of him in conditioning and several classes better… at least that’s the way it appears to this guy. As a final note, Uncle Chuck’s stride, reminds me of Nyquist.
While I thought everyone was a little too hopped up on Uncle Chuck, I am now joining them in being excited. So while we may have lost Nadal and Charlatan, the West Coast is well represented still with Honor A. P. and Uncle Chuck!
