Yoshida takes to the turf and beats Gunnevera in the Woodward…
On a day when Chad Brown was winning literally everything, he even won when he lost with the help and magic of the stewards, (just saying)… Yoshida has to be the STAR of the day, going to the dirt track for the first time in his career. I have to wonder out loud what took Billy Mott so long to try him on the Dirt. I will tell you for free, this horse really handled the dirt track beautifully. He got a good hold and really came home well, to out foot Gunnevera who also race well after being very wide throughout.
Another who really caught the eye was Sippican Harbor who decimated a field of fillies in the Spinaway Stakes for 2 year old fillies. Of course Chasing Yesterday shipped from So Cal for Bob Baffert for this race and was heavily bet to favoritism. CY simply wasn’t that sharp at Saratoga and no comparison to Sippican. Of course, there are numerous thing that could have impacted her effort, so don’t read too much into it… but Sippican Harbor could be a really nice filly.
On the West Coast at Del Mar, Bellafina and Mother Mother put on a show and ran a strong 1,2 while defeating the wrong favorite in Brill… That as one for our team…
Sunday has another 22 races for your pleasure…
