Note… This weekend, I will be doing a JJ Power Page for Gulfstream Park on both Saturday and Sunday. This work will be added to your purchase of either Aqueduct or Santa Anita – at no additional charge!
However, it will be delivered by e-mail approximately 10 minutes after you have downloaded your JJPP product… Please be patient.
“Race Day Las Vegas” Plays
Thursday’s
IN race #5, we backed No Hiding Place, off at odds of 26/1, NHP took the lead early and held on for a little more than half the race, then fading fast… We got a little run for our money.
Then in Race #7 Flash Drive was our play, off at 5/2, was beaten to the lead by the eventual winner, pressed the leader with vigor, but succumbed late in the stretch, fading to 4th, as much the 2nd best. I loved this play, and while it did not work out, I was satisfied with the effort the horse made… for what it’s worth…
Friday’s
Race #3 at Aqueduct, my Pop Out Key, was She’s Delightful, who was just that, after falling in behind the leaders while out off the rail, rallied strongly in the stretch to win well while totally clear. Off at odds of 7/1, this delightful play paid handsomely at $16.00 for the win.
Race #3 at Santa Anita, was my Featured Play, Ms Bad Behavior who went off at a generous 5/2 (as I explained on the JJPP-PLUS – her fair value was 6/5), she simply was much the best, when challenged by the chalk, she seemed to fend off that challenge with little difficulty. This winning play turned the trick at a $7.20 win price…
Saturday’s
AT Aqueduct in the 5th, we played H Man off at 5/1, ran nicely, while taking an overland route, started to rally, but could not get to the top runners, reporting home 3rd. Probably went against an Inside Speed Bias, maybe worth watching in the future.
At Santa Anita, my first play was I Will Score – in the gate at 3/1, but out of the gate at 7/5, whenever I see this for a top operator like Jerry Holledorfer, I figure it’s a good sign, but it is a bad price… I Will Score made every pole a winning one, but thank goodness we didn’t need to coax another 50 yards out of him. I didn’t love his final furlong, but let’s wait until we see speed figs to be sure. Winning, paying $4.80, but the lovely exacta reflected the 3/1 price yielding $19.20/1, for our spread.
My 2nd Play at Santa Anita, Coniah in the 7th, didn’t give them a chance as she asserted her superiority throughout. Winning off without much of a challenge at any point… Winning Price was $6.40 and the exacta came in paying $14.80/1 for our spread.
Sunday’s
At Aqueduct, in Race #2, Leah’s Dream was our play, LD ran an awesome race for this class, pressing the pace 3 wide throughout and drawing away to a very solid win. The Win price was $5.80 for the win… Nope, we did not convert this exacta…
At Santa Anita, in Race #6, Gio’s Gold off at odds of 2/1, started just fine, while not on the lead, moved up menacingly into 3rd position mid turn, then started to suddenly struggle, finishing very poorly as if something went wrong… making me think he bled through his Lasix, but that is nothing more than a guess…
