Wednesday’s main play on Race Day Las Vegas was a real crush job. For those of you who didn’t have the Power Page, in the 6th race my top two rated horses ran 1 and 2 — with the Top rated horse, Apollo Eleven going off at 3/1 and running 2nd. And the 2nd rated horse EX EX EX going off at 14/1 and winning. The two horse were rated fairly closely with Apollo Eleven at 70.3 and Ex Ex Ex at 69.5. The numbers — as I published them — suggested about 1.5 lengths difference between the two horses based solely upon their most current form. So with this in mind, I pose the question to you, which is the better — the horse with the 1.5 length advantage at 3/1 or the slower (by 1.5 lengths) at 14/1.
It’s actually the question — we all should be asking — at every race. And here is yet another available option, you can bet them both! For me, the simply answer is bet off the 14/1 to win and place, make a strong exacta with the Top Rated 3/1 … And have a very nice day… But that is simply my opinion…
