Saturday’s (9-24-2016) Power Page and PLUS for Belmont and Los Alamitos are ready for download…

All orders will get a JJPP for the two big races at PARX, The Cottilion and the PA Derby… it will be sent to your e-mail account within 1/2 hour of purchase starting at 8:00 AM PT, when the office opens on Saturday morning.

The big battles will be fought at PARX on Saturday as Nyquist and Songbird start there fall campaigns…  Songbird’s last race was a bit of a head scratcher, as she labored home in a pedestrian 27 final quarter mile of her 1 1/4 race in The Alabama.  But she prevailed against a very lackluster group.  If she starts to “get late” again, she will go down, so the sharp Songbird would be nice.  When this season started, I was thinking we might be looking at another Personal Ensign, but so far this 3 year old season has produced lackluster speed figs…  Let’s see if she can rebound with a great effort…

Now for Nyquist, he is still clearly the best of this group, sans Arrogate.  The one caveat with Nyquist is he does not perform well on WET Tracks.  So this is a FAST TRACK only type of horse and what a horse he is.  Even in his bad races on the Sloppy going, he still showed superior speed, he just doesn’t really “get those kinds of tracks”.  If it’s fast, good luck to those trying to catch him.  Gun Runner looks like the next one in the exacta, but he does have some decent chance — if we can view his last at Saratoga as a track he doesn’t like…  I liked Gun Runner going into the Travers and I would not be adverse to giving him another chance to run back to his very good Kentucky Derby and his sharp follow up race at Churchill in the Matt Winn.  If there is an upset to be make, Gun Runner would be where my eye is looking.  Exaggerator is starting to look warn out a bit and one that performs on a WET track only at this time.  He’s been fortunate in the Santa Anita Derby, The Preakness and The Haskell to get WET going and he ran big.  But his last two on Fast tracks have been big disappointments, which suggest to me that his puppies are hurting a little — it looks like he likes the cool moisture around his hooves, not the hotter dry track.  Remember, 10 minutes before the Kentucky Derby, there was a downpour and the track was showing it’s moisture — something he loves for sure… FAST No, Wet maybe yes…
