Some quick bookkeeping, STAR horses had a winning week of Plus $91.70 against a cost of $70.00. For those who are up on my STAR horses, you are aware I had put a STAR on Recurring Dreams who paid a whopping $91.50. In this calculation, I only credited $63.05 to total, counting for win and place, which lowers the total drastically in this case. But it makes plenty of sense over the long-run, because the 40/1 long-shots will run second many more times than they win. So after a few of those types of results, it makes great sense to calculate in this manner. Warrior From Above is a perfect example of what I was just saying. And as soon as I can go back over the entire year to re-calc this way, I will post a full year figure…
As for my selections, from the last 10 plays I have picked 1 winner and 4 place horses. Both Setsuko on Saturday and I Feel Free on Sunday were very playable, as Setsuko was beaten by Ron The Greek who was one of only 2 other exotic turn horses, so at 7/2 the exacta needed to be turned as I expressed on Race Day and the exacta paid a very handsome $19.90 for $1.00 wagered. Then on Sunday, I Feel Free ran a solid 2nd to ultimate winner Victoriasugred… for a terrific exacta of $38.80 to $1.00. Now here is the thing with 2/1 favorites. You simply cannot turn them with all your exacta horse, but you MUST turn the exactas with your double digit long-shots. If you think otherwise, then change your thinking because you are simply mistaken. Whenever you can get a favorite underneath anything decent you get one of the great premiums in horse racing. I guarantee that my old betting cronies are cringing when I write this. Do the math, if you don’t know the math, then just trust me… Anyway back to resulting, the winning total is at a total return of $205.50 at a cost of $194.00. The ROI sits at $1.06 per $1.00 wagered. The road is long, with many a twist and a turn, but at the end of this journey, it’s my challenge to be on plus street with you guys… Stay with…
