Bias Report

Belmont  6-8

Santa Anita  6-9

Race Day Las Vegas Section

5-25-2017

Belmont… Race #6 Vicky’s Dancer off at 8/5, in a reduced field, this met fair value – barely —  As expected VD broke alertly and made all the running on the front, without any pressure.  Turned for home, but was noticeably striding less effectively, could not resist the winner, while much the 2nd best… I would not be inclined to follow VD off this effort… We made the exacta by holding THE PLACE with our main exotic turn.

Santa Anita… Race #6 Monterrey Shale off at 6/1… broke well to take up the running behind the first group, masterfully handled to save ground and then ease off the rail down the backstretch, moved up while still conserving ground loss, then move to the outside for the stretch run, but could not lift with the winner, finished fair but with a mid-pack finish.

5-26 Race #6… Nobody Move off at 8/5 … after many scratches this price was okay… took hold out  the gate to be a back marker, then advanced along the turn, came into the stretch a clear 2nd and widened on those behind, but made not dent in the winners margin… Much the 2nd best in holding the PLACE… No exacta here…

5-27-2017

Belmont… Race #6 Majestic Lassie off at 5/1… broke sharply to take the lead, under some pressure, moved along on the front, then was encountered with a strong bid, accepted the new challengers leaning in, and was embolden to rebuke her bid and win in a very valiant and hard fought victory… Winning and paying $12.00… play made the exacta, trifecta and superfecta.

Santa Anita… Race #8  Big Jon B  —off at 6/1… ran along at the back, as expected, but never improved stride to finish well back…

5-28

Belmont — Race #5 Benevolence  off at 9/2… ran along near the back, while holding position on the rail, moved up dramatically coming out of the turn, took up the chase but could not get by the eventual winner, while well clear of the rest… SOLID PLACING, makin exacta, trifecta and super on the reverse.

Santa Anita — Race #7 Itsinthepost off at 8/5… simply to low a price to play… got a difficult trip, losing ground into honest fractions all the way around the track.  When they hit the top of the lane, he kept on as well as could be expected and never stopped trying… finished 4th….

5-29-2017

Belmont — Race #9 Offering Plan off at 2/1 .. ran along at the back of the track, then caught up coming out of the turn and continued with a relentless close through the lane to win well  .. Winning price of $6.30 and a marvelous exacta of $31.20.

Santa Anita  Race #3 Did Smart Cat off at 9/2 – but bet down to 3/1 as they passed the 4 furlong pole… Took up the early running to achieve a smart lead in natural stride, made all the poles with open lengths, then started to tire, but NEVER FELT the whip, continued on in decent stride, and held the lead until the wire, when he got caught… OUCH… To my eye, it did not appear that jockey Stevens every did more than wave the whip at Dis Smart Cat.   While we lost the photo, I will defer to his judgement… HELD THE PLACE and made the exacta and trifecta on the reverse…

Santa Anita  Race #4 Sweetwater Gal off at 3/2… broke in mid pack but held position on the rail, moved up on the turn to be right behind the leaders as they hit the home stretch, then moved out for running room, winning well as much the best…Winning Price paid $5.20

6/1

Belmont Race #7  Off Limits off at 6/1… broke in stride and took up racing near the back, moved up to 5th some 6-8 lengths off the leader, while running in very good stride, moved up through the turn and loomed large as they straightened…Then exerted her superiority with a commanding win… paying $13.40 and the3 exacta paying $89.20…

Santa Anita Surfing The Menu off at 8/1… made the early running to battle for the lead, tired suddenly to a full fade…

6/2

Belmont  Race #8  Glory To Kitten off at 9/5… the price got a little too tight … off well and well rated in and behind horses while holding the desirable rail position… came out in the stretch to begin a rally but could not sustain, finishing 3rd… slightly disappointing.

Santa Anita  Race #8 Gato Dolce off at 2/1… well handled to secure the place as clearly 2nd best… made the exacta with out principle turn.

6-3

Belmont Peculiar Sensation off at 8/1…  Battle for the lead from the outside, simply not sharp enough to take command, then faded…

Santa Anita Race #4  Ceeme Run Wild…SCRATCHED at the gate after dropping E A Roman…

6-4

Belmont  Race #7 Cournoyer off at 13/1… took command and led into the stretch, held well to the furlong pole and then weakened… finished a close up 4th in a very good effort…  This is one that would have made our soup FAT.

Santa Anita Race #6  Alice Moonshine off at 4/1… well placed in the pocket, turned for home finding a hole on the rail — exploded to the lead and won off with some ease… Always looked like what she was — a winner paying $10.20… yes we had the exacta and trifecta.
