Race Day Plays for Thursday:

Aqueduct — Race #5 :  Storm Pursuit  —  Off at odds  23/1, SP showed very sharp speed, dueled with Rockford to the 3/16th pole.  Maybe we went to this one a race too soon.  At the price, it was a decent play.  Finish was out of the money.

Los Alamitos — Race #4 :  Day In The Sun — Off at odds of 3/2, D-I-T-Sun ran very well to Win, paying $5.00.  Our total play of the 1 over the 4,5 ran for a cold exacta and trifecta, for those of you who tried to bump up the payoffs… 

Bias Alert at The Big A:  

The Inside part of the track was totally dominant during the first 7 races, it started to get a bit more honest in the 8th and 9th…

Thursday’s races were very good at The Big A, the Inside Bias made the running in the stretch really interesting, especially for horses coming up the rail to try and snatch the underneath placings.  While at Los Alamitos, the phrase MOTO comes to mind.  While the Top RATED horses ran to 5 wins, 1 2nd and 1 3rd out of the 8 race card –  the fact of the matter was the prices were very short.  Even my Race Day selection, with an M/L of 5/2 went off a skinny 3/2.

Race Day Plays for Wednesday:

Aqu — Race #7 —  Pegasus Red was well placed but had NO PUNCH in the stretch.

Aqu — Race #8 —  Congress Park off at very nice odds, sat a perfect trip but fizzled…

Opening Day at the Big A:

It was great to see racing return to the Big A.  One of the most interesting things that happened occurred in the 2nd race when Long-shot Celtic Serenade, coming off a single race that was a DNF, in fact it would be fair to say this was a first time starter for all intents and purposes – was literally bet off the board.  This pony was being made to look like a “can’t lose under any circumstances” when viewing the money flow.  This Two Year Old Filly was a M/L of 12/1 and hovering up around 8/1 through most of the betting, when in the final few minutes the filly was bet down to 5/2.

So how did she do?  Good Question and the short answer is fair – if you didn’t bet her and terrible if you did bet her.  CS broke without sharp speed, got hung wide into the first turn and then made an early move about 5 wide on the Far Turn.  All in all, what I would call a “tour of the course”.  As it turned out, it made overlay’s of both Legend of lorelei and Night Madam.
