Sunday’s (4-1-2018) Power Page and PLUS for Santa Anita are ready for download…

Audible moves to the TOP!

With a profoundly exciting move in the far turn, Audible stamps himself at the pride of New York and as tough and capable contender for this years Kentucky Derby.  But truthfully, he has 5 full weeks of recovery and improvement to accomplish if he is going to “even be in the money or win” this years KD.  The talent level is just so amazing this year.  And we can’t forget the lovely run by the lightly race Hofburg and the very good race by Mississippi in finishing 2nd and 3rd.  Mississippi might not be a 1 mile and quarter horse, he did get too much of the early part of the race from the bad outside post, so it’s not definitive.  Hofburg has the size and scope and look of a horse who will run “all day long”.  For his first try against really good horses, his effort was profoundly excellent!  And then Mendelssohn in the desert, please read on…

Mendelssohn romps in the desert!

His effort is was big, but his competition was probably weak!  So keep that in mind when evaluating.  In a couple of days, I will publish his speed figs.  You know I have great respect for this colts talent, as he has been on our KD Contender’s list since last fall.  He is bred for the Dirt, so it’s not surprise to me…  Also, without trying to throw cold water on his hot race, but the ship from Dubai this time of year to Kentucky has yet to even produce a fair effort!  But that’s the past and this is NOW, so let’s enjoy his big win, and consider what it means, and get some Fabulous Figs to help us really “get” what this all means…

My Gaming Today article for week #6 will be Audible (2nd time for him), Hofburg and of course Mendelssohn – and yes I will be making speed figures or today’s races at Meydan — and yes, we will call them “approximate” as the data is very limited.  But I would be happy to bet, my approximate numbers are still better than everyone elses – but that’s me talking about me!

Talking Kentucky Derby:

These are the BEST figure these horses have actually run to date, expect many to improve dramatically in the next outing…

The Louisiana Derby wasn’t a stellar race on any account, even though Noble Indy was “way courageous” in working out a nose victory.  Please check my article in Gaming Today – you can see my deep analysis there… and my new rating for him below… you will notice that Bravazo and Snapper Sinclair have been ejected!

As previously commented upon the most humorous aspect of the entire 3 year old campaign is the crazy way that points system is working out this year… With Bravazo and Magnum Moon and Enticed having more points than McKinzie!  Bravazo is now gone !

“Race Day Las Vegas” Plays

Thursday’s at Gulfstream Park, we played Hey Howie in the 3rd, off at odds of 5/1… ran along the rail a couple of lengths behind the leader, held position well, started to challenge coming off the far turn and failed to go by the eventual winner while being much the 2nd best!
