Saturday’s (12-28-2013) Power Page and KHSS for Aqueduct and Santa Anita are ready for download…

Once again, a top two year who has raced hard during the two year old campaign has gone wrong and will not be a contender for the KD…  It seems that they just do not breed stout, durable and fast horses anymore.   And I have to say, after last years Triple Crown, it appears that some of our best trainers are absolutely inept at prepping young horses for the championships.   Supposed great trainers like Todd Pletcher have absolutely horrible records – sure he finally won one with Super Saver, but how many did he fail with while wrecking in the process…  Last season alone he hand Violence, Verrazano, Revolutionary and Palice Malice.  It’s interesting how many races Palace Malice was able to participate in and then start to improve, while the others were all so very lightly raced in comparison.  PM seemed a little lazy at first and was able to stand up to much more racing then the other I mentioned, and really blossomed for The Belmont and The Travers….  Now we have Bob Baffert, whose record in the KD in the 1990’s was superlative and now in this century has been much more challenged, but with a lightly race Bodemeister he nearly got the job done two seasons ago…  As we all know now, New Years Day comes this year with the horse New Years Day, the two year old champion, being sent to the breeding shed after a career ending injury.  And now in over 30 years of running the Breeders Cup to determine a two year old champion, only 1 has returned to win the Kentucky Derby…   I repeat – from over 30 winners of the Breeders Cup for 2 year old champions, only Street Sense was able to return at 3 and win the KD….   Something is really wrong!
