The Arkansas Derby… somewhat anti-climatic, before it runs…
Small fields, such as tomorrow’s Ark Derby don’t mean a race that is not entertaining or challenging to the handicapper. But tomorrow’s Ark Derby seems more like a walkover for Concert Tour with a bunch of stable ponies running for 2nd, 3rd and 4th money! Okay, so you know how much better Concert Tour appears to me when judged against the others… I won’t even use the word competition for them!
What does this mean for Concert Tour and his chances in the Kentucky Derby? Maybe we should ask the question in a slightly different way, will he get enough out of this race to compete effectively with Essential Quality and Highly Motivated – for example.
And this is the discussion for the next several weeks… but surely the question tomorrow is how many lengths… I would hazard a guess, at 10 lengths…
