Big Time racing steps forward…
Saratoga presents an amazing card, headed by the storied Whitney! My favorite recollection of the Whitney was watching Personal Ensign dispatch a talented field with relative ease on her way to an unblemished record. I believe she still is the only Grade 1 horse of filly to have at least 10 wins and retain a PERFECT record. Her final race was in the Breeders’ Cup when her miraculous rally took the money over that year’s Kentucky Derby Winner, who happened to be loose on the lead in the SLOP. It didn’t matter if she had to run uphill while the opposition ran downhill, this filly was the most spectacular I have witnessed… just a touch better than Zenyatta and Winning Colors. Oh by the way, the Kentucky Derby winner that Personal Ensign defeated on that stormy day in Kentucky, was of course… Winning Colors. Please don’t send letters… I only say Ruffian when she broke down against Foolish Pleasure… so I cannot compare her…
This edition is another very good one, but will not be as notable as the above… but it’s a great rendition and I have a big LIKE in this edition! There are of course 12 races on the card… and there are some doozies…
Del Mar also has a great card, headlined by a sprint that matches champion McKinzie against Desert Law and the new face, the 3-year old… Collusion Illusion. If you listen to me throughout this season… you can guess which horse is going to get the attention of my bankroll…
This summer, in the gloom of the CV… horse racing has been a blessing and today is another great day!
