Saturday’s (8-2-2014) Power Page and KHSS for Saratoga and Del Mar are ready for download…

Saturday’s cards on both coast are simply outstanding, but everyone’s eye has to be on three great races at Saratoga, The A G Vanderbilt, The Test and The Whitney. Over the years taht I have been tuned into horse racing, The Whitney has made been one of  the great races each summer.  NOne have been better or more interesting than this one, since the GREAT ALYDAR dismissed his elders by nearly 10 lengths back in 1978.   Seriously, this race has featured the great Personal Ensign defeating the boys and so many other achievements by superior equine athletes.  But in today’s edition, we are going to see the Best 3 year old of last year  — Will Take Charge —  face his closest competitor from last year Palace Malice who can’t be more that a fraction off of Will Take Charge in accomplishments.  Yet they both may be stepping up against the best – though not fully realized — of their own generation — It’smyluckyday.    I believe I am correct when I say that It’smyluckyday was easily more highly rated then either WTC ro PM going into last season’s KDerby, going off at 9.5/1 and then running terrific in the Preakness — its’ also worht mentioning tha the ran a very credible 2nd in the Floriday Derby.  The only thing we learned about It’smyluckyday is that he didn’t like the Sloppy condition at Churchill last year.  But his run in teh PReakness was stellar, chasing a lose on the lead Oxbow to a fine 2nd place finish at Pimlico…

No doubt, there has been tons of development in WTC, especially after he touched the Saratoga surface last year, and we should expect he will be loving Saratoga again.  And you can say the same for PM, he simply if very fast and carries his spead a long long way.  But we have to realize that Itsmyluckyday is coming into this race off three successively improving races, for an outstanding trainer in Edward Plesa.  What does it all mean, I would have to say, — it should be a barn burner!!!
