Saturday’s (9-26-2015) Power Page and KHSS for Belmont and Santa Anita are now ready…

The Great Race Place, Santa Anita opens today (Saturday)…

So now we have two premier meets running side by side again.  But I must say, I will miss Los Alamitos, which I thought was pretty juicy — I will be looking forward to the next time they stop at Los Al…

The big news of course is Beholder running in the Zenyatta, Nyquist and Mt. Veeder running in the Frontrunner and the big question, will Bayern run another stinkeroo in the Awesome Again…Among many other really interesting handicapping considerations on Both Cards.

First let’s sstart with Beholder, I doubt anyone could possibly beat her.  But I hate making bets in races like this.  To my mind, this is one to sit back at relax and just love our sport — unless you think she can be upset.  I really couldn’t make a case for the upset and I doubt you can either, except I must remember, that Secretariat, Affirmed  and American Pharoah all got beat in the Travers.  So to my way of thinking, you can’t make any money and you might possibly get burned,,,   I will be watching…

Now BAyern might be another story, I have a positive read on him and a negative read on him.  But the negative read is stronger, so he would only be interesting as a wager at bigger odds.  The positive read is that his last race was “against a strong bias”, So it might be that his form is better than it looks and his trainer is the amazing Bob Baffert.  The negative reason, is simply a series of poor races, way below par — for him!    So there is a battle in the brain, is  he improving and the improvement is buried in the “against the bias” trip — last out.   These are the tough handicapping ideas we face… But on the other hand, at least for me, there is another horse I really like a great deal – which will be obvious to my Power Page customers…

The Frontrunner is really interesting, Nyquist and Mt Veeder are both nicely rated slightly under 75.0.  Consider this, in last years edition, American Pharoah ran an amazing 79.5…

Great races at two great tracks, so get your Power Page’s and remember ” Stay with the Power Page!
