Omaha Beach, “impressive” in the Malibu…
The Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at 7 furlongs is always an important race. I usually think about it as the 1st important Sprint of the year, but it’s fair to think of it in accord with the calendar, because it’s still 2019. I have seen great looking efforts at 7 furlong, including some unbelievable performers… including Forego, Seattle Slew, Spectacular Bid … all the way to Justify. Omaha Beach’s performance on Saturday reminds me of these tour d’ forces by the most exceptional equine athletes I have witnessed.
He moved alongside with no urging, and just moved through the lane as vigorously as any. HIs powerful strides just left every other horse with a hopeless look. More important, this colt is maturing and his huge talent seems to be increasing.
His best, seems to me… to be better than their best… in all cases.
Jerry J’s Power Page… impressive as well…
Meanwhile the Jerry J Power Page at Santa Anita was absolutely terrific on opening day of the Santa Anita 2020 meet. The Pick 6 was produced from playing the TOP 2 horses in each of the Pick 6 races won the P-6. A simple, 2x2x2x2x2x2 returned a winning ticket $226 for a 20 cent ticket. The total cost of this was only $12.80. And the late PICK 5, returned over $400 for a 50 cent ticket which would have cost $16.00 – again going 2x2x2x2x2.
( IN all 9 races – that’s 9 out of 9 – that didn’t include First Time Starters, had the winner in the TOP – 2 positions).
I thought the track was very uniform and tighter than we had seen in the previous meets of last year, and this looked like a big improvement to my eye!
