Track Bias Report for Saturday 1-2-2016:

Aqueduct :  Strong Speed bias and inside paths were clearly preferred over outside paths…Inside and SPEED …

Santa Anita: Very Slow Rail — all day long!

Saturday’s Race Day Plays:

Both plays ran against the bias of the track and came in midpack (I believe they both came in 4th).  To my eye, both horses ran better than their outcome, and I think Travel Bound ran very well in the finale at Santa Anita, but he was stuck down on the VERY SLOW RAIL and unlikely to get off of it, with all the speed on his outside.  But — and the truth always follows the “but”– nobody should have bet Travel Bound if they were watching the races from Santa Anita all day.

If you just liked the play, put it in and went to the movies’, then that’s part of that type of play and there is no problem with that wager.  However, if you were watching the card as Santa Anita, somewhere around the 7th race, you simply had to say to yourself, the “Rail is the worst” and I refuse to bet anything coming out of the inside posts, especially if they have early speed!  Literally every horse that broke in front, took the lead and went to the rail, was back-peddling through the field in the stretch!

When I  make my plays in the AM, I can only be guessing at the actual track bias we will be facing in the afternoon — I always guess Honest and look for the horse who I think will have the most run.  Most days, there really isn’t a bias, but since the start of this meet, there have been a shifting bias that have lasted the entire day.  So I am hoping, if you are listening to my selection or anyone elses, if their selection  rates to have to go against the bias, you really do not need to make that play.  And if we have a play, that appears to be taking advantage of a bias, you can go after that play a little more aggressively… But you can- observe what’s happening and make proper adjustments…

This year is going to be one of the best years for my product and my handicapping…   But you can make it even better, by staying on top of the events as they unfold…
