Violence was caught up in a violently fast early race, with a 23+ first quarter, but the 2nd quarter was 22.00 flat, this type of acceleration that early in the race is doom for any horse involved! Keep this in mind when making your evaluations. Another interesting point is the the early speed bias that seemed to be in play at Gulfstream, so while Violence was chasing this suicidal speed front runner, while ORB was laying back — getting nice and relaxed for J.R. Velazquez and Shug… Both runners were to one degree or another getting the worst of the bias and VIOLENCE took the worst of the setup… Here’s the kicker for this whole thing, this race was an Allowance race for all the horses except Violence who was running in this as if it was a HANDICAP. Violence had an impost of 122 while everyone else was carrying only 116. Now that we have all the data in place, we can begin to analyze this affair and form some opinions…
Here are my ops on the race, Violence should move forward off this race while it’s probable that ORB would do well to simply PAIR his last effort –note a PAIR for ORB will probably land him in the winners circle against everyone who is a class below Violence — so if he faces VIOLENCE again, I would definately be betting Violence! That’s just my take.
There was a VIOLENT fall in the 5th at Aqueduct, with Keiber Coa taking a terrible looking fall…at the moment I have not heard how he is doing, so I will be saying a prayer for his safety…
