Baffert wins both halves of the Ark Derby…
Once again, Baffert ships his superior horses to Arkansas Derby and walks away with the price. He captured both the 11th race and the 13th race which were the 2 halves of this seasons SPLIT Ark Derby. In both case, Baffert’s charges were ODDS-ON, but the races were entirely different. In the 11th, Charlatan broke sharp and just ran everyone off the their feet. He simply jogged them to death, at least it looked that way, but he just goes fast and looks so effortless. He’s impressive.
Then Nadal, in the 13th race, broke okay, but took up running in the chase position, took over the lead turning the home and then finished well. Unlike Charlatan, who never appeared to be driven, Nadal did feel competition and then was asked for run by jockey Joel Rosario. Rosario is at his best, getting a horse to relax while in competition, and finish with fierceness. That’s what Nadal showed me.
It’s been a steady stream of Charlatan defeating weaker fields with effortless beauty and Nadal taking on real competition and getting into a tussle, and then finishing well… Very interesting!!!!
Sunday’s Gulfstream is up and ready…
12 tight and tough races are ready for your to analyze for Sunday…
Thanks to attendees at Saturdays FREE ZOOM Webinar on the Arkansas Derby!
I think we had a great seminar, with handicapping matching well to the results. The opening race we played Basin at 10/1 win and Place… and a major exacta of Charlatan over Basin. So we won that.
The next play was to take those 2 horses (and maybe 1 more) to play a Pick 3 into #12 By My Standards in the 12th, the winner at $11.00… then finishing our Pick 3’s with Silver Prospector, Nadal and Wells Bayou! So we cashed the PICK 3… Although would have preferred Silver Prospector to jump up and run a winning race. Silver Prospector didn’t have the “fire” and was wrapped up in the stretch by jockey Santana.
