Last week finished our study of handicapping with the Power Page with a positive ROI of $1.25 per $1.00 wagered.  The way this is being done, is to do the running total of my two daily picks on Race Day Las Vegas.   The important thing is not to “short sample” and results — good or bad.   So far our sample size is 68 plays, dating back to 12/26/2011, so we are still on the small size, but its not that small!   How do I calculate the ROI is a very good question, because it includes a “plalce” component to the calculation, because I preach a win & place betting strategy.   If the horse is under 9/2 it’s calculated as $2.00 to win wager only.   Above 4/1 its calculated as $1.00 to win and $1.00 to place.   This jives with my strategy which has worked for me for many years…  Remember, when I bet place it almost always in reverse exactas.  ON my win bets, I might to part straight win and part weighted exacta spreads or all weighted exacta spreads.  It’s a little more work, but well worth the effort.
