Back after a nice day off… It’s time to think about Pete Carroll similar to the way we think about ourselves… A very good player – who for whatever reason – made a bad bet! Sometimes a jockey makes a split second decision to go down to the rail — then gets shut off . It’s just a decision that is seen by everyone that came up short. Someone on Twitter made the comment about the famous Joe Pisarchek handoff to Ernie Coy that was fumbled and returned for a touchdown by the Philly Eagles (Maybe it was Herm Edwards). He went on to comment that the coach was fired the next day and never heard from again. I suppose this POOR THINKER doesn’t remember that the coach was terrible and the Giants were a horrible team at that time. On the other hand, Pete Carroll won the Super Bowl last year and missed winning it again this year by — the play.
I didn’t like the call, even though it probably had a 70% chance of success. The reason I didn’t like the call is it was a short pass — “into the box”. Coack Bill Parcell once commented that he hated those types of passes because they were too easily tipped. Just like everyone else I would have preferred a bootleg by Wilson or a pass otion on a rollout or the obvious handoff to Lynch.
As a review of this great game, it’s clear to me that B. B. designed a great scheme and really made life difficult for Seattle. But Seattle – because they are the super team adjusted and neutralized the early advantage the Patriots seemed to have. Injuries to Seattles Defensive End and their Cornerback/ Nickel Back neutralize some of Seattle’s advantage and converted the patriot’s early advantage into a win. Great Game…
Aqueduct — watch the track — follow prices on Wednesday… It might play like a WET track if there is enough thaw…
